France Telecom slams roaming plans

France Telecom has attacked the European Commission’s plans to force cuts in mobile roaming charges, warning they could put thousands of European jobs at risk.

Didier Lombard, chief executive of France Telecom, likened the proposals to communist-style planning. “In the past it is only the eastern part of Europe which has been linked to this type of regulation,” he told the Financial Times.
