COMPANIES Alexander Lebedev, the former KGB agent bidding for control of London’s Evening Standard, has also held talks with Independent News and Media about a possible offer for its national UK newspapers, The Independent and The Independent on Sunday.
Discussions are active, but contingent on the outcome of Mr Lebedev’s discussions with Daily Mail & General Trust, the Evening Standard’s owner, according to one person familiar with the negotiations.
