Output drops add to copper squeeze

Production problems at two of the world’s largest copper producers have added to concerns about supplies that have forced up prices of the metal in recent months.

Kazakhmys, the London-listed Kazakhstan-based copper miner, and Escondida of Chile, the world’s largest copper mine, on Wednesday reported lower output for the first quarter.
