COMPANIES The diverging fortunes of pub and nightclub operators were highlighted on Wednesday after two very different trading updates from JD Wetherspoon and Luminar.
While Wetherspoon beat bearish forecasts to report an uptick in sales for the second half, Luminar, the country’s biggest nightclub operator, said deteriorating economic conditions led to a sharp decline in customers during the past nine weeks.
