Court awards $60m to Agent Orange veterans

A South Korean court yesterday ordered Dow Chemical and Monsanto, two makers of Agent Orange, to pay more than $60m in compensation to thousands of South Korean Vietnam war veterans and their families.

The Seoul High Court said the US chemical companies must pay Won64bn in compensation to almost 6,800 people, the first time a South Korean court has ruled in favour of victims of the infamous defoliant.
