Downtown Los Angeles used to be a no-go zone after dark. Crime was rife in the area, which by day is home to more than 300,000 office workers who commute every day to buildings such as City Hall or the skyscrapers that house law firms and banks.
Yet the commercial centre of Los Angeles is undergoing a transformation. The impetus is coming from Anschutz Entertainment Group, best known in the UK for turning the barren wasteland of the Millennium Dome into the O2, which has become one of the world’s most popular music and entertainment venues.
