BBC chief hints at 'joint venture' with C4

The debate over the future of television moved decisively yesterday towards a tie-up between elements of BBC Worldwide and Channel 4 to help the latter survive in the digital age.

Sir Michael Lyons, chairman of the BBC Trust, made what one person at the heart of the debate called "a very significant and very welcome" move when he indicated the BBC's compliance in the scheme.
