It must have been with a heavy heart and a glance to see if there really was a poison chalice that Peter Dawson took control in March as chief executive of Brixton, the troubled property company.
Mr Dawson, a likeable 37-year-old property investment man, was seen as the natural long-term heir to Tim Wheeler, but he cannot have expected to take the helm so soon, or in such difficult circumstances.
