New technology: Healthy location for spin-outs and game developers

Universities are an important driver in the formation of new technology businesses in the West Midlands.

An example is ScriptSwitch, a drug comparison software company that was set up by students and a pharmacist from the University of Warwick in 2000. US healthcare business UnitedHealth recently bought the company at a valuation of around £50m ($80m) from shareholders represented by Catalyst, a local corporate finance boutique.
