PM urges fix to expenses system

Gordon Brown on Wednesday called for the controversial system of MPs’ expenses to be sorted out “once and for all”, following a series of revelations that have damaged his ministers and the standing of parliament.

The prime minister said there also had to be new rules covering what he called “part-time MPs”, a suggestion which is particularly aimed at embarrassing David Cameron, Conservative leader, whose frontbench includes a number of MPs with other jobs.
