London mayor vows spectacular 2012

Boris Johnson bowled into Beijing yesterday, promising both a spectacular and costconscious London Olympics and saying he did not feel "intimidated" by the standards set by China.

But London's mayor, who on Sunday will be handed the Olympic flag by his Beijing counterpart as part of the closing ceremony in the Bird's Nest stadium, appeared to muddy the waters about the legacy use of London's own Olympic stadium, saying all options remained open.
