The Financial Ombudsman Service expects to report that complaints about payment protection insurance tripled to more than 30,000 in the 2008-9 financial year, when it publishes its annual review later this month.
“It accounts for about a quarter of our incoming work at the moment,” says the service, whose role is to step in when a consumer reports that a complaint has not been resolved by their bank, insurer or other financial company.
