EBay cuts 10% of workforce

John Donahoe, the new chief executive of Ebay, sought to stamp his mark on the e-commerce company by cutting 10 per cent of the workforce and making two acquisitions for $1.3bn.

The moves are part of Mr Donahoe’s efforts to sharpen both the operations and strategic focus of an internet giant that has struggled in recent years to cope with greater competition and changing consumer habits.
