The number of people who do not believe that the US is in recession, and that the pace of global economic growth is slowing, has dwindled of late. More and more analysts are convinced such a course of events is unavoidable. What will be the consequences for Russia?
The country has plenty of unresolved problems linked to the creation of institutions needed to ensure reliable economic growth: corruption in the state apparatus, the absence of real separation of powers, the imperfect state of the legal system and the lack of protection of property rights. The list goes on. But these problems have no direct relation to the influence of the changing global economic situation on Russia.
