Australia cuts wheat crop forecast

Australia has cut its forecast for this year’s wheat crop for the second time in six weeks as an enduring drought continues to inflict damage on the country’s hard-hit farmers.

The Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics (Abare) on Tuesday forecast that the country’s wheat crop would produce 12.1m tonnes, down from the 15.5m tonnes expected last month and nearly half the 22.5m tonnes projected in June.
