Business urges Istanbul to strike IMF deal

Turkish business leaders pressed politicians on Friday to sign a new deal with the International Monetary Fund to mitigate the effects of the global downturn.

IMF involvement helped Turkey recover from a financial crisis in 2001. Since a $10bn (€7.4bn, £5.8bn) three-year standby agreement expired in May, the government has been keen to show voters it can now manage without outside help.
