Hillary Clinton has dipped into her own pockets to finance her presidential bid, lending her campaign $5m in the run-up to this week’s Super Tuesday primary votes.

Her campaign said that the move showed her commitment to the race. But the decision also reflected that rival Barack Obama has lately edged out Mrs Clinton in the crucial contest for campaign contributions.
