Worries over electronic passports

The Home Office must explain why electronic UK passports cannot be used as an identity card, the head of the Commons public spending watchdog said on Tuesday.

“Most of us are going to have both an ePassport and an identity card,” Edward Leigh, chairman of the public accounts committee, said. “The Home Office needs to explain why an ePassport could not serve both purposes.”
