NHS admits to new talks with IT suppliers

BT has renegotiated a core contract to deliver the NHS’s huge information technology programme, and talks are under way with the other big suppliers to the project, Fujitsu and CSC.

The move reflects the evolution of the systems, designed to support an electronic patient record, but it is striking because the government had denied there was any need to alter the £6bn, of mainly 10-year contracts underpinning the programme.
