Evictions case nears Africa human rights court

A ground-breaking international lawsuit over property rights in Africa has cleared an important legal hurdle to its adoption as the first high-profile case of the continent’s new human rights court.

A special commission is due to rule soon on the fate of the action brought on behalf of hundreds of thousands of Nigerians allegedly driven out of their Lagos homes in 1990 by the military junta of the day.
