Postal bidders poised to seek assurances

Potential bidders are set to demand stiff conditions, including a government indemnity from strikes, in return for the future privatisation of Royal Mail.

Their tough stance underlines the difficulty of bringing private capital into the state-owned postal operator while it remains beset by poor industrial relations and a soaring pension fund deficit.
