German industrials wield axe to supply chains

Germany’s large industrial companies are speeding up efforts to cut the number of suppliers they use in what could unleash a big shake-out among these small and medium-sized companies.

Car parts makers Continental and Schaeffler recently agreed on sourcing co-operation that would cut the number of their 5,600 suppliers by half.
