Gannett to cut local newspaper jobs

Gannett, publisher of USA Today, will cut 10 per cent of staff at its local newspaper division to combat a sharp drop in advertising revenue.

The latest cuts, expected to be completed by December, are the second round of redundancies this year in the worst-hit division of the company. The cuts do not affect USA Today.
