Miners help FTSE into positive territory

London stocks closed higher on Thursday after mining and oil stocks gained on rising commodity prices, buoying an otherwise jittery market.

The FTSE 100 closed up 0.7 per cent to 6,349.1 after swinging in and out of negative territory during the day. The FTSE 250 gained 0.7% to close at 10,664.7.
