Hutton quashes fears over nuclear monopoly

The UK will require “at least” two companies to run the next generation of nuclear power stations, John Hutton, the business secretary, said on Wednesday.

His comments quashed speculation that a successful EDF bid for British Energy would allow the French group to enjoy a monopoly over the multi-billion pound sector.
