Relocation: Region offers mixed picture for inward investors

The West Midlands is a conundrum for companies looking to relocate. It is very well-placed in the centre of England with excellent links north to south, yet much of its transport infrastructure is inadequate.

Birmingham was once the city of a thousand trades and the region still has superb engineers and highly skilled technicians. Yet unemployment is high and overall skill levels are poor.
