Teenagers have made the ringtone more popular than the CD single this year, according to KPMG, the business advisory firm.
The ringtone was teenagers' top music purchase this year: the market was worth an estimated £116m, more than double the CD singles market. Calum Chace, head of media advisory at KPMG, said: "Teens use ringtones as identifiers, telling their friends who they are, what they like." Malini Guha
