Hanoi
How to get there
Arriving at Hanoi’s new, but gloomy, Noi Bai Airport is reasonably hassle-free, though it does not hurt to hustle off the flight and get near the front of the immigration queue in case you arrive when there are not many agents on duty. Taxis are plentiful – just step outside the terminal. Although all bear different company names, they all charge the same fixed price of about $13 to get to town. The 28-mile trip to the city centre takes about 40 minutes – when there is no traffic. Cars are the only option.
