Broadcasters' anger grows over Sarkozy TV plan

Nicolas Sarkozy has triggered a bitter row with French public television after setting out plans to tighten political control of the state-owned broadcaster.

Patrick de Carolis, head of France Télévisions, threatened on Wednesday to resign over the proposals to scrap advertising and attacked the president's claim that there was no -difference between the -programming on public and private channels as "untrue, stupid and profoundly unfair".
