SCH poised to remain private as succession put in place

Sir Peter Rigby, founder of Specialist Computer Holdings, Europe's biggest private IT company, has appointed his eldest son James as head of its key UK division, putting him in pole position to succeed his father.

The move reduces the chances that the desktop systems specialist will be floated or sold privately, routes some controlling families pursue when they cannot recruit for succession internally.
