Inefficiencies ‘depriving poorest of aid’

Simple management measures to reduce waste and speed up disbursement could release an extra $10bn a year in international aid, according to a new study that calls for greater accountability and efficiency among donors and agencies.

Dalberg Global Development Advisers, a New York-based consultancy firm, identifies wide-ranging inefficiencies in procurement, fund distribution and management, and project planning that are depriving the world’s poorest of aid that has already been pledged.
