Agassi beaten in court on tax liability

Andre Agassi, the Las Vegas-based tennis player, has lost his long legal battle with the taxman after the House of Lords ruled that touring stars were liable for tax on product endorsement deals while they were in the UK.

The defeat means that international sports stars and entertainers will be denied the opportunity to reclaim as much as £500m from the tax authorities.
