RBS set for £12bn rights issue

Royal Bank of Scotland is on Tuesday expected to unveil the largest rights issue in Europe when it announces plans to rebuild its capital ratios by raising about £12bn from shareholders.

The bank was last night finalising the terms of the rights issue, which it discussed with its largest shareholders on Monday. The board of directors was due to meet on Monday night to approve the offering.
