Bush vows to ‘stay engaged’ with Middle East

President George W Bush wound up his tour of the Middle East on Wednesday by calling on Egypt to provide more help for the Middle East peace process, and pledging to “stay engaged”.

“When I say I’m coming back to stay engaged, I mean it. When I say I’m optimistic we can get a deal done, I mean what I’m saying,’’ Mr Bush said at a joint press conference alongside Hosni Mubarak, the Egyptian president.
