Televangelist backs Giuliani campaign

Rudy Giuliani on Wednesday significantly boosted his chances of getting the Republican presidential nomination when he secured the endorsement of Pat Robertson – America’s most prominent televangelist.

Mr Robertson’s support marks the first time a social conservative has backed the former mayor of New York, whose history of support for abortion rights clashes with the most impassioned issue among evangelical voters, who account for a third of registered Republicans.
