China’s economy grew by 11.4 per cent in 2007, the fastest pace in 13 years, but a deceleration in exports already evident in the final quarter from weaker US demand is expected to moderate growth this year.
Most China analysts have forecast growth above 9.5 per cent in 2008, on the back of sustained strong investment and a likely easing later in the year of China’s own credit tightening measures, to make up for any US downturn.
