Michelangelo Volpi, chairman of Joost, the internet television software company, is switching sides to become a full-time partner at Index Ventures, the company’s venture capital backer.

The move is the latest sign that experienced technology executives and entrepreneurs are moving into venture capital amid the turmoil of the global recession.
