Holiday urged after Armistice Sunday

A new “British national day” should be launched as an extra bank holiday on the Monday after Remembrance Sunday, a left-leaning think-tank said on Sunday.

With Gordon Brown keen to rebuild a sense of British identity, the Institute for Public Policy Research said the new bank holiday should be an occasion for a national “thank you” to community heroes and a day people should use to give something back to their communities.
