AIG staff resist bonus payback

Some executives at American International Group have yet to give up part of their controversial retention bonuses amid uncertainty about future compensation at the insurance group.

A report due to be published on Wednesday from Neil Barofsky, special inspector- general for the government’s $700bn troubled assets relief programme, found that staff were resisting paying back part of the $168m retention payments until plans were confirmed.
