Candover may split to avoid collapse

Candover is considering splitting itself into two, as the crisis-hit private equity group examines all options to avoid collapse. It is preparing to start talks with potential bidders about selling all or part of its listed vehicle.

The shares jumped 28¼p to 147p on Friday, taking its market capitalisation to about £30m ($41.9m). The company said it had received “indicative expressions of interest . . . covering a range of options including potential offers”.
