Nestlé embraces ‘fair trade' label

Nestlé on Thursday became the first of the four dominant global coffee companies to launch a product with the “fair trade” label, amid some concerns that a proliferation of different marks would confuse consumers.

The move represents a shift in policy for Nestlé, which previously warned that paying farmers above-market prices for coffee might encourage over-production and further declines in the global market price.
