European steel and base metals producers surged on Thursday after US peer Alcoa’s surprise third-quarter profits lifted hopes for the sector’s recovery.
Norwegian aluminium producer Norsk Hydro climbed 8.8 per cent to Nkr42.50 and the Netherlands’ ArcelorMittal rose 4.2 per cent to €25.74.
