Manufacturers expect contraction to slow

Manufacturers still expect output to fall, but at a slower pace over the next three months, according to the CBI survey of industrial trends which took the pulse of businesses in early May.

Wednesday’s survey showed manufacturing demand still very weak and total order book levels broadly unchanged for the past four months after a sharp fall at the beginning of the year.
