Paulson to receive $18m bonus

Hank Paulson, the former chairman and chief executive of Goldman Sachs who is to be the new US treasury secretary, will get an $18.7m cash bonus for six months work, the Wall Street bank disclosed yesterday.

Goldman's compensation committee approved the payment for Mr Paulson's leadership as chief executive for the six months to May 31, the bank said in its quarterly regulatory filing.
