Magic Circle faces squeeze amid slowdown

London's elite law firms are being squeezed by national and regional rivals as the credit crunch forces companies to take a harder look at their discretionary expenses, according to new research.

Acritas, the legal sector researcher, found more than a quarter of legal clients were expected to increase spending with regional firms, such as Newcastle's Dickinson Dees, in the next 12 months.
