Ruling on Stanford bail request delayed

Sir Allen Stanford faced another night in jail on Monday after a US district judge delayed a ruling on whether the Texas businessman accused of operating a $7bn Ponzi scheme would be allowed to go free on bail pending his trial on wide-ranging fraud charges.

US prosecutors argued at a hearing in Houston that the financier should not be granted bail because of the risk that he might flee.
