Sterling hits 26-year high against dollar

The pound climbed to a 26-year high versus a weakening dollar on Wednesday after data showed UK wage inflation at its highest in nearly three years and traders digested the minutes of the Bank of England’s recent interest rate-setting meeting.

Sterling broke though $2.01 on fears that a tighter labour market may be adding to inflationary pressures and that this may cause the Bank to raise interest rates at least twice more to damp demand.
