Sometimes it pays to be cheap

I spend too much money. If I have the choice between a cab and a subway, for instance, I’d take the cab. If I have the choice between business class and coach, I take business class. At a restaurant I like to give a 30 per cent tip instead of 20 per cent, just to make sure nobody thinks I’m stingy. I can’t help it. I have no discipline.

But there are two sides to this coin. On the one hand, if you don’t have discipline in the personal fiscal area of your life, it could bleed over into other areas, such as your investing or management techniques.
