Alitalia bidders ask Rome for free hand

Potential bidders for Alitalia will from Monday put pressure on the Italian government to give them a free hand in restructuring the airline as a condition for putting together rescue packages.

Monday is the deadline for expressions of interest in Alitalia, in which the government is seeking to sell a majority of its controlling interest to a group that would then launch an offer for the whole airline.
