Is Alitalia finally about to succumb?

On Wednesday Air France-KLM walked away from its €140m offer for state-dominated Alitalia, after the airline’s famously recalcitrant unions refused to agree to its terms. As a result, Alitalia’s chairman – its third in a year – has resigned.
